| 1 3/4 cups | All-purpose flour, sifted |
| 1/4 tsp | Baking powder, double acting |
| 1 tsp | Baking soda |
| 1 tsp | Salt |
| 1/2 tsp | Cinnamon |
| 1/4 tsp | Cloves, ground |
| 1 1/3 cups | Sugar |
| 1/2 cup | Chocolate morsels |
| Wet Ingredients | |
| 1/3 cup | Shortening, butter-flavored, soft |
| 2 | Eggs |
| 1 cup | Canned pumpkin |
| 1/3 cup | Milk |
| 1/2 tsp | Vanilla |
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ground cloves.
- Beat sugar, shortening, and eggs in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Add and beat in pumpkin.
- Add sifted dry ingredients in 3 additions alternately with milk. Do not overbeat between each addition.
- Fold in chocolate morsels.
- Pour batter in greased pan and bake about 1 hour or until bread test comes back clean.
